A student opened fire at middle school and wounded a 14 year old in the neck at around 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia.
It is believed that the shooting was not random and something occurred between the two students. An armed officer who was off-duty was able to get the gun away, and the wounded boy was taken Grady Memorial Hospital and dispatched Thursday night.

A crowd of anxious parents gathered in the streets awaiting word of their children after they noticed about the situation. Emergency procedures were followed according to protocol and students were kept at the locked down school for more than two hours before being dismissed.
Gun violence in and around our schools is simply unconscionable and must end,” Reed said. “Too many young people are being harmed, and too many families are suffering from unimaginable and unnecessary grief.”, said Mayor Kasim Reed.
