Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade Information and New Route

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade returns this Thursday with a set of new balloons and floats, kicking off the holiday season.

The old route used to march down Seventh Ave. in Midtown for years but this year the route has changed for the 86th annual parade, bringing the balloons down to Sixth Ave. to the parade’s end point in front of the famous Macy’s Herald Square location. Macy’s officials believe that Sixth Ave. is the safest route for the World-Famous Macy’s Parade.

Approximately 3.5 million spectators are believed will enjoy the parade, and this will make roads in Midtown and the Upper West Side impassable until early afternoon Thursday.

The balloons started being inflated Thursday. Today Show shows us one of them here:

56 balloons are being inflated starting Wednesday, and that means those shutdowns will being Wednesday early in the morning, police said.

The inflation event is open to the public form 3PM to 10PM on Wednesday and visitors can visit the staging area at West 79th St. and Columbus Circle.

On Thursday, the parade begins at 9AM on West 77th Street and Central Park West, making its way south to Columbus Circle. Once there, the parade will go east along 59th Street to Sixth Ave. where it will continue all the way to West 34th Street before turning west to end in front of the famous Macy’s Store.

Chris Brown New Tattoo Controversy

Chris Brown’s latest tattoo is drawing a lot of controversy lately. The thing is that the image on the singer’s neck looks a lot like his former girlfriend Rihanna who, as we all know, was assaulted by Brown back in 2009.

His new tattoo is a woman’s face that is marked in injuries, three slashes through her lips, and other marks that appear to be bruises. But the markings are not hundred per cent clear whether the face is meant to represent an abused woman.

Many people are making comparisons between Rihanna’s picture of when she was hit by Brown, and his new tattoo.

TMZ.com said: ”sources close to Brown” who tell the website the image is not meant to be Rihanna, but is instead “a random women.”

What do you think of the design of Chris Brown’s new tattoo? Has he gone too far? Is it a coincidence?

Taylor Swift Reveals New Album ‘Red’ & New Single

Multi-platinum superstar Taylor Swift is releasing her fourth studio album which is called “Red”, on Oct. 22.

Taylor Swift sat in a red and white striped dress, in front of a group of very lucky fans in Nashville, Tenn. (and the millions of fans watching via YouTube chat) Monday night, to reveal the new album.

“For the last two years, I’ve been working on an album called Red,” Taylor said in a statement. “I called it Red because of the tumultuous, crazy adventures in love and loss that it chronicles. In my mind, when you experience love that’s fast paced and out of control and mixes infatuation, jealousy, frustration, miscommunication, and all of those lovely emotions…in retrospect, it all looks red.”

“I am so excited for you to hear the new direction of things,” Swift said, adding that “really disfunctional” and “not good” relationships can provide “a lot of inspiration.”

Her new song, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” which is about ending a bad relationship, is out today on iTunes and GooglePlay. While at a shoot for Glamour magazine, the 22-year-old singer told “Nightline” anchor Cynthia McFadden exclusively that the song was about something that actually happened to her.

New World Trade Center Images Released

World Trade Center 1 is now nearly built up to its 1,368-foot roof. New Renderings came out this week for the WTC Site.

The new images—the first in more than five years—aren’t dramatically different from the past renderings, but show some changes to the design of the building that have been made in the past few years by its owners, the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, and the Durst Organization.

Among the notable changes: the recent removal of the casing around the tower’s 408-foot antenna mast (which angered the building’s architects and sparked debate over whether its height will actually be counted as the symbolic 1,776 feet it sought to achieve at the top of the mast) and a revamped base. The base was tweaked when a prior design for the glass ran into manufacturing problems.

Another point of note in the renderings: They don’t include 2 World Trade Center and 3 World Trade Center, towers planned by developer Larry Silverstein. Both require tenants to proceed, although the base of 3 World Trade Center is being built out in the interim.

Whitney Houston’s last record released for ‘Sparkle’

Whitney Houston’s last recording – a new duet with “American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks – was released on Monday ahead of the singer’s upcoming film, “Sparkle.”

“Celebrate,” produced by R. Kelly for “Sparkle” which will hit movie theaters on August 17, was recorded by Houston shortly before her sudden death aged 48 in February.

The uptempo track features disco beats and a positive message, as Sparks and Houston sing lyrics such as “I’m going to celebrate, celebrate you.” Sparks throws in “We love you Whitney” at the end of the song.

Sparks on Sunday delivered a heart-felt tribute to Houston at the Billboard Music Awards. She sang a rousing rendition of “I Will Always Love You,” before presenting a posthumous award to Houston’s teenage daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown.

“Sparkle,” a remake of the 1976 film of the same name, tells the story of three sisters who become Motown stars who have to deal with the pressures of fame. Houston plays Sparks’ mother.

Three North American river otters are born in Brooklyn

For the first time since 1956, three North American river otters have been born in a New York City zoo. Just this past February, the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Prospect Park Zoo in Brooklyn welcomed the arrival of the three pups above to doubtlessly proud parents Dixie and Oogie.

While the plight of the river otter in the wild involves an ongoing struggle against habitat loss, unregulated trapping and pollution, conservationist organizations like the WCS are making great strides in protecting the future of the species.
