Metro North Commuter Train Hits Car, Kills 6

Six people died this evening when a crowded Metro North Harlem Line train hit a Jeep Cherokee north of White Plains, New York.
More than 750 Passengers were estimated to be inside the train and they were evacuated to the back, MTA says.
The head car of the train set on fire immediately after the crash.
It’s not clear what led to the crash at this hour.

Metro North stated on their Twitter account that the Harlem Service is temporary suspended between North White Plains and Pleasantville.

Actor Michael McKean hit by car in Manhattan

Actor Michael McKean, who portrayed the lead singer in the movie “This Is Spinal Tap,” was injured when he was struck by a car in New York City.

Officials said it happened while McKean was on West 86th Street and Broadway in Manhattan just before 3 p.m. Tuesday. Police say no criminality is suspected.

The actor, who played Lenny on the hit television show “Laverne & Shirley,” was taken to St. Luke’s hospital in stable condition.

A spokeswoman for McKean, Harriet Sternberg, said the actor suffered a broken leg.

McKean is currently starring in the Broadway production of Gore Vidal’s political drama, “Best Man.”

Brooklyn Boy Falls Off Bike, Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver

The family of a 13-year-old Brooklyn boy struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver after falling off his bike over the weekend is pleading for a suspect to come forward as they struggle to figure out how to pay for the child’s funeral.

Police say Henry Garcia was riding his bike near his home on 20th Avenue in Bensonhurst Saturday afternoon when he apparently lost his balance and fell.

Police say the driver, who was traveling in the same direction, struck the boy and fled the scene. The boy was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Police continued to search for the driver on Monday. The suspect is believed to have been behind the wheel of a green SUV.

A makeshift memorial was set up over the weekend as the boy’s devastated family struggled to figure out how to pay for his funeral.

Lindsay Lohan Calls Allegation That She Hit Someone With Her Car ‘A Complete Lie’

With word coming down that the man Lindsay Lohan allegedly scraped with her car in a parking lot early Wednesday morning has since sought treatment at an emergency room, the trouble-prone star is speaking out in her own defense.

“Scrape? This is all a complete lie. I’ve been at community service,” Lohan tweeted. “Last night, I attempted to wish a friend happy birthday, which I didn’t even get to do because I was freaked out by all of the paparazzi. These false accusations are absurd.”
