2012 Teen Choice Awards; Twilight & Taylor Swift among Big Winners

The stars of “The Twilight Saga” turned out to be big winners of the night Sunday, taking home ultimate choice, the Teen Choice Awards’ lifetime achievement honor. The hit movie series has won a whopping 41 Teen Choice trophies since the first film arrived in 2008.

The Teen Choice Awards got under way with a star-studded red carpet followed by a slew of awards, which were handed out at the Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles.

The teen-fueled ceremony honors film, TV, music and sports stars in such categories as choice hottie, villain, liplock and hissy fit. A record 134 million votes were cast this year.

Going into the 14th annual ceremony, Kristen Stewart’s “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” and “Snow White and the Huntsman” both led the nominees with seven nods a piece.

Actors Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were all on hand Sunday to accept their awards. Lautner told the crowd, “We owe everything to you guys,” adding, “It’s amazing you guys are still around and just as strong and just as loyal.” Stewart also thanked the fans for the continued support of the vampire series. Pattinson did the same, and then gave his surfboard to the audience. His co-star and real-life gal pal, Stewart, followed suit.

Stewart also walked away with choice romance movie actress, as well as choice female actress of the summer for her role in “Snow White and the Huntsman.”

Other multiple winners included “The Hunger Games,” boy band One Direction, “The Vampire Diaries,” Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, who picked up her 20th trophy, the most ever won by a female artist.

“I just feel so honored that I get to have you guys in my life,” Swift said.

The first award of the night, choice comedian, went to Ellen DeGeneres. After accepting her surfboard-shaped trophy, she honored pint-sized stars, Sophia Grace and Rosie, with the choice Web award.

Other winners included Zac Efron for choice actor in a drama and Michael Trevino for choice male TV scene stealer. In the movie category, “21 Jump Street” scored choice comedy. Hill, who lost the supporting actor Oscar earlier this year to Christopher Plummer, used his acceptance speech to poke fun at the 82-year-old “Beginners” co-star. “I’d just like to point out that he’s not nominated for anything tonight,” joked Hill, who co-wrote and executive produced the movie.

Emma Stone, meanwhile, received both the choice comedy actress award for “Crazy, Stupid, Love” and choice drama actress for “The Help.”

When Selena Gomez picked up the choice music group award for her band, Selena Gomez and the Scene, the crowd sang her a warm “Happy Birthday.” Gomez, who was sitting in the audience next to her beau Justin Bieber, turned 20 on Sunday, July 22.

This year’s choice hottie awards went to Miley Cyrus and Ian Somerhalder. Cyrus wasn’t there to accept the honor, but Somerhalder thanked fans on her behalf.

The event kicked off with an introduction by the ceremony’s co-hosts: “The X Factor” judge Demi Lovato and “Glee” co-star Kevin McHale.

Lovato’s “X-Factor” co-judges appeared in taped segments. Simon Cowell joked in his typical way, calling Lovato a brat and describing her as irritating, annoying and said she had bad manners.

Bieber served as one of the show’s musical performers, along with Carly Rae Jepsen, Flo Rida and No Doubt. DJ Pauly D of “Jersey Shore” was on hand as the house DJ.

The Hollywood frolic comes two days after the midnight massacre at a Colorado movie theater showing “The Dark Knight Rises,” killing 12 and injuring 58. Show organizers say that “The Dark Knight Rises” was not up for any Teen Choice awards this year nor was any reference to the tragedy  during the show.

The show also aired in the wake of a fog machine malfunction that forced the evacuation of a Hollywood nightclub Saturday night hosting a Teen Choice Awards pre-party featuring the boy band Midnight Red. Los Angeles Fire department spokesman Brian Humphrey said six people, ages 8 to 20 years old, were taken to the hospital for problems ranging from headaches, dizziness, shortness of breath and cryogenic burns.

Kids Choice Awards Highlights

A great KCA night can be defined by one word, and one word only. SLIME.

Justin Bieber made a surprise entrance to accept his Blimp for Favorite Male Singer. And thanks to the ‘Live Vote’ contest, he was selected to ALSO win a fantastic finale of slime!

Awesome KCA 2012 host, Will Smith, did a phenom job throughout the show. And he even managed to solve the mystery of who was creepily hating on his host skills via voice-over. It was The Voice star, Cee Lo Green! But it turns out, he wasn’t really a hater, he just wanted to be SLIMED. Too bad Will got him back by showering him in an ice cream sundae instead.

Country crooner Taylor Swift took home her first-ever Big Help Blimp on her first-ever visit to the KCAs. Andshe was presented with the award by the First Lady! Now that’s a lot of firsts.

If you missed Nicki Minaj at the KCAs this year, then you missed out! She was sporting a cute and crazy dress that looked like it’d fit perfectly on a paper doll! Props for her fearless fashion sense.

KCA alum Katy Perry put on a magical performance, too, which we thought deserved a finale of ‘Fireworks.’

When we think of 1Derful KCA performances, two words come to mind. One Direction! These guys totally rocked the 2012 stage, and they had just about every celebrity out of their seats dancing along!

One Direction Louis Tomlinson Shows Off His Girlfriend

Sorry, girls, One Direction Louis Tomlinson is off the market! The singer, 20, was photographed out and about in Los Angeles with his girlfriend, Hollister model Eleanor Calder, on Thursday.

The couple was photographed walking together arm in arm.

If you thought Louis’ busy schedule was going to break them up, think again. Louis and Eleanor look happy as can be!

But if Louis’ loved-up look is anything to go by, then it’s probably certain that he won’t be even a little bit tempted to stray regardless of all the female attention.

However, it’s rather difficult to understand how Louis bagged the attractive Manchester University student after he revealed his pulling technique earlier this year.

‘I would do an intense version of It Wasn’t Me by Shaggy on the violin,’ he revealed.
